Computer technology has transcended the world of art and creativity. Ironically, what once demanded the skill and technique of hand is now accomplished with a simple click of a mouse. Anyone with a PC and the proper software can create stylish, interactive websites. Yet, acumen employing visual elements, style, form, and content is a requisite in mastering the art of web design. In retrospect, the correlation between computer technology and art was foreign to me. The thought of creating web pages would sicken me because my effort would never symbolize my perspective about a given task. Consequently, I grew wearisome throughout the semester as I compared my work with other sites I viewed online. I understood that I had a vision, yet I was unable to employ the techniques of web design that would complement what I was thinking. Coincidently, I took an art appreciation course during the semester that educated me about the language of art. As the semester progressed, I began to realize the relation between art and web design. Most importantly, I learned not to abandon my vision merely because it is not perceived as the norm. By learning that art encompasses the elements of society, I recognize that my effort and persona is unique when I apply my visual element, my style, my form, my content to whatever I design. In summary, web design is extraordinary in that it allows artists to compose ideas that interact with PC users, with a simple click of a mouse.
